Artist's Comments

This work I'm quite happy with even though its another piece for my art class which sort of got rushed. This was made from a little more exotic technique which requires one to scratch of a black clay covering from a white broad (I think the actual material is called scratch board). The slight coloring you can see on the tree in the background and the owl's eye was done with watercolor.

This is a photograph of the piece as you can probably tell from the slight glare, but overall, for once I don't think it affected the quality of the piece that much.

All in all I really enjoyed doing this piece and plan to look more indepth into the uses of scratch board in the future.

Comments are greatly appreciated!!!

I remember doing that scratch board project.

Yours looks like it came out a lot cleaner than mine did.

A thousand thanks unto you! Owls are one of the best art subjects in the animal kingdom!!!!

It may be cleaner then yours but thats probably because I practiced for 2 full class periods (originally I kept scratching all the way through the paper).
